In fact, who else has used the Exposure bullet hit method? I'm genuinely interested.

Let's compare results.

We were messing around with the "exposure bullet shot" technique a few weeks ago... haven't got any footage online though.

It took us a while to figure out how to use the pressure spray pump properly; with a few failed attempts...
Then for the final test we must have pumped the spray pump at least a thousand times (it wouldn't pump anymore).... the result... the blood fired across the garden and sprayed all over his back-window (which was at least 25ft away)

spent about half an hour cleaning it up! amazing!

for the blood, we ended up using Vimto, mixed with Arrowroot (for extra thickness)... looked awful, but tasted great!

I used the spray-effect for a headshot in the "Guns and Girls" short. The actor wore an old shirt of mine and an old rug covered the carpet. The pump didn't work so we had an extra blowing into the hose. Blood was water, corn-flour and red and blue food coloring.

The effect looks quite decent (see the clip) but I spent two days painting the extra out of every single frame.

What would I do better?
-Be more careful with the blue food coloring (a few drops too many and your whole blood turns black)
-Light the scene differently so the blood comes out stronger
-Tape the hose to the guy's arm and have the extra lying/crouching on the floor.
-Deinterlace before I post a clip next time
